Fourth Ventricle Choroid Plexus Xanthogranuloma Causing Hydrocephalus.
Xanthogranulomas of the choroid plexus are discovered incidentally on autopsy in 1.6 to 7% of cases, and are typically found in the lateral ventricles. Very rarely, however, they can become symptomatic because of obstruction of the ventricular system, and these tend to be found in the third ventricle. There has only been one published case of fourth ventricle choroid plexus xanthogranuloma. We ...
متن کاملThe choroid plexus of the fourth ventricle and its arteries.
The choroid plexus of the fourth ventricle consists of two symmetrical parts located in the roof of the ventricle and protruding through its openings, the foramina of Luschka and Magendie. The arteries supplying the choroid plexus of the fourth ventricle are difficult to approach because of their deep location within the cerebellopontine angles and the cerebellomedullary fissure. They originate...
متن کاملMR of xanthogranuloma of the choroid plexus.
We present a case of a xanthogranuloma of the lateral ventricle choroid plexus in association with focal areas of abnormal T2 signal in the tegmentum of the pons as well as within the middle cerebellar peduncles. The characteristic MR appearance of this rare entity is described along with a pathologic basis suggesting an association with posterior fossa lesions.
متن کاملAnaplastic ependymoma of the fourth ventricle causing obstrictive hydrocephalus.
SummaryEpendymomas are relatively uncommon and present with a spectrum of biological and clinical characteristics that make specific recommendations regarding their treatment difficult and assignment of prognostic factors controversial. The case of fourth ventricular anaplastic epednymoma in a four-year-old child is reported in which the initial presentation was deterioration of the level of co...
متن کاملXanthogranuloma of the choroid plexus of the third ventricle: case report and literature review.
Xanthogranulomas of the choroids plexus (XG) are benign tumours of debatable etiology which become rarely symptomatic. Only few cases have been studied with MRI. A new case of xanthogranuloma of the third ventricle showing unusual features in the CT and MRI studies in a 47-year-old man with a 2-month history of gait and urinary disturbances and cognitive impairment is reported. The literature c...
